Club Information

Chislehurst Millennium Swim Squads is a small, friendly swimming club which was formed in January 2000 and is based in the Bromley, Chislehurst and Orpington areas of Kent. Most of the Club’s members are drawn from these areas.  Training sessions are undertaken at Bromley High School pool, located in Bickley near Bromley, and St Olave’s School pool and the Walnuts Leisure Centre pool, both located in Orpington.

Chislehurst Millennium Swim Squads provides swimming training for children who are already able to swim the main strokes.  There is a group and squad system operating within the Club as follows:

  • Teaching and Development Group for those who can swim the main strokes in a basic manner and who are building stamina and learning the competitive skills of swimming.

  • Junior Club Squad for those children who have built some stamina and skills but who do not wish to take part in competitive galas.

  • Junior Competitive Squad for those swimmers who have mastered some competitive skills and can cope with a longer training session.  Swimmers in this squad can also be selected for inter-club galas.

  • Intermediate Squad for children who are training two or three times per week, have good competitive skills and who take part in inter-club or open galas.  Swimmers in this squad can also achieve County times or above.

  • Senior Squad for those swimmers who have achieved a high level of fitness, train three to four times per week, take part in inter-club and open galas and are capable of achieving County times and above.

During the course of each year the Club participates in friendly inter-club galas with other clubs located in the north west Kent area.

Also, swimmers in the Club are placed into one of three houses:  Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.  Siblings are placed together in the same house.  Rivalry between the houses takes the form of internal competitive events and each swimmer has the chance to support their house.  At the end of year social event each year a “House” trophy is presented to the winning house.  There are also club trophies awarded for various achievements throughout the year.
